ImageHome theatre computers are attracting a growing market segment in new computer sales, and with this growth many manufacturers have taken up the challenge of making an effective solution for multimedia applications such as windows media centre. Since the inception of the HTPC (Home Theatre Personal Computer) a whole range of cases, laptops and accessories including remotes, keyboards and digital TV tuner cards have hit the marketplace with differing ideas on how to control and use this relatively new platform.

Thermaltake a leading case and cooling manufacturer most well known for expertise in the gaming sector have delved into the realm of home theatre PCs and have created a exciting range of home theatre chassis’s that have been very popular, but now they have gone a step further. Thermaltake have now added extra functionality to their range of HTPC cases by introducing the Digital Home series with four models to choose from, featuring the latest in HTPC case screen technology.

Both the DH-101 and DH-102 home theatre case comes with a piano mirror coating that is sure to fit in with any of the latest home theatre components, but the central feature of the DH series is 2 types of LCD panels that not only looks brilliant but are highly useful. The LCD panel featured on the DH-101 is the smaller panel but gives you general information typical of generic stereo display but the party piece of the Digital Home series is featured on the DH-102 case.

ImageThermaltakes 7” touch screen mounted on the front of the DH-102 chassis is packed full with features not seen on any other HTPC case before it. The touch screen makes controlling media functions trouble-free, being able to access music, videos and photos straight through the easy use menu system. But Thermaltake has not stopped there including access to daily news feeds, weather, PC status and Email right on-screen which makes this case a very useful one. Programmable Hot-Keys and a giant Volume control knob also included give this case the look of some expensive Home Theatre amp so it not only functions great but it also looks the part.

All this great functionality featured in the Digital Home series does not mean a sacrifice of being what this case is meant to be, a performance computer case. The interior structure features separate thermal modules adding extra space and air flow to make a more roomy and thermally correct performing chassis over other HTPC cases on the market. With a 12cm front fan and double 6cm rear fans discards any overheating concerns usually a problem with desktop chassis’s. Three 3.5” and one 5.25” drive bay supplies space for a DVD burner or Blu-Ray drive if desired and space for 3 hard drives for plenty of space for media.

But Overall the Thermaltake Digital Home series is an all-round performance HTPC case featuring a great take on controlling your media. This makes it a perfect choice for any person looking to buy a new HTPC.
